Well Dweller Trinkets

Trinkets in Well Dweller are collectible modifiers that can be mixed, matched and upgraded to customize Glimmer's abilities. Choose a trinket for the problem you are facing, compare its in-game description with your current setup, and test one change at a time. Exact locations and a universal best-item ranking are not yet verified on this site.

The Steam store and Top Hat Studios page both describe this system. They establish that trinkets matter to character customization, but they do not publish a full item table with current numerical effects, upgrade costs or route requirements. This page is a practical system guide built around what can be confirmed without inventing those missing details.

What is confirmed about trinkets

Official descriptions state that Glimmer can collect trinkets, upgrade abilities through them, and mix and match pieces to change play style. This means a trinket is more than a collectible counter: equipping a different combination can alter how comfortably you move, survive or fight. The current description does not tell us which combinations are strongest at each point in the released game, so the answer depends on the equipment actually available to you.

The published Xbox achievement list names goals for collecting trinkets, gaining trinket slots and upgrading trinkets. Its broad targets can help a completion-minded player track progress. Achievement wording should be checked in your own platform interface, and an achievement total should never be confused with a complete list of pickup locations. Different platform storefronts may expose the same goal with slightly different wording.

If you have only a few trinkets, read their current in-game descriptions carefully. A web ranking may assume upgrades or slots you do not yet own. The most useful choice is often the one that changes your present obstacle, not the one that appears first in somebody else's final-build list.

Build around a specific task

Before changing equipment, identify the task: crossing a difficult route, surviving a boss, defeating regular enemies efficiently, or exploring for secrets. Then pick one trinket effect that plausibly helps that task and try it under comparable conditions. This simple method prevents you from overvaluing an item just because it feels different. Keep the rest of your setup stable for one or two attempts so you can see what changed.

For exploration, the question is whether a trinket helps you notice a route, move through an area or conserve the resources needed to return. For a boss, the question is whether you need to survive long enough to learn a move or shorten an encounter whose pattern you already understand. Those are evaluation criteria, not claims that a particular named trinket has a particular effect; check your own inventory text for the actual item.

If a setup improves your performance, note the context rather than declaring it “best.” An item can be valuable for a single boss and less useful on a long exploratory route. Upgrading can change that comparison again. A good future ranking will need the tested game version, upgrade level, available slots and the task used for evaluation. Without those details, a simple tier list is more confident than the evidence permits.

Slots and upgrades

The existence of trinket slots and upgrades is supported by the public achievement targets. A player aiming for full collection should distinguish three separate tasks: finding trinkets, increasing the capacity to equip them, and upgrading owned trinkets. Completing one task does not necessarily complete the others. This is why an inventory count alone is not a reliable 100% checklist.

Before spending an upgrade resource, compare the in-game text before and after an upgrade if the interface allows it. Ask whether the change helps your current build. If a cost is scarce, keep a note of how many resources you hold and which item you plan to improve. We have not published a cost table because the official descriptions do not include one and we have not recorded a complete release-build upgrade test.

Use its current marker notes, and verify the required route and ability in your version.

How to search for a missing item

First, decide whether your goal is a named trinket, an additional slot or an upgrade material. Choose that category in the external map instead of scanning every icon. Second, check the marker's access note, not only its position. An object can be geographically close but locked behind a later ability. Third, record what you obtained and whether the corresponding achievement counter changed. This avoids revisiting the same room because two different collection systems look similar on a crowded map.

Do not assume every marker is final. Third-party interactive maps are living resources, particularly during launch week. We link the provider because it can update its own screenshots and descriptions; copying an early snapshot here would make it harder to correct errors and would misuse its work. We have not independently tested every trinket effect, location, slot requirement or upgrade number in the September 22 release. This guide therefore provides a reliable decision method and clearly separates confirmed system features from later item-specific research.
