Get Slingshot in Hunter's Cabin, Climb after The Swarm in The Bog, and Hover after the Queen's stealth section in Desiccated Castle. Use Climb to return toward Night Garden for Tent Travel. For later walls, get Endless Climb after The Colony and Wall Sling after Dollmaker's Mirror. The tables below match each unlock to the obstacle it solves so you can choose your next route.

An unreachable pickup usually needs a different movement action, rather than more attempts with the starting jump. Identify whether the obstacle is height, distance, wind or an underwater route, then check the relevant unlock. Later milestones reveal area and boss names; the opening route has links to focused, shorter guides.

AbilityArea and milestoneWhat to do after reaching it
SlingshotHunter's Cabin, the egg and tutorialCollect the egg and finish the tutorial before returning to the cabin's upper route.
ClimbThe Bog, after The SwarmTake the path right of the defeated boss and collect the movement unlock.
Tent TravelNight Garden, reached using ClimbFollow the return climb from The Bog and take the pickup on the upper route.
Wind RideThe DrainsFollow the path east from the central tent toward the ability route.
HoverDesiccated Castle, after the stealth sectionContinue beyond the Queen and Looter sequence to the ability and its tutorial.
Endless ClimbThe Colony progression in The DeepComplete the boss and rescued-siblings sequence, then follow the onward route to the unlock.
Wall SlingDollmaker's House, after Dollmaker's MirrorContinue from the boss and rescue sequence to the ability pickup.
SoarQueen's Castle, endgame routeReturn to the post-Queen route and collect the ability near the tall passage.

The milestone locations are cross-checked against Game Checklists' illustrated ability entries, Gabe and the Goat's chaptered release run, and the focused routes cited below. This table covers eight traversal unlocks; equipment, keys and transport upgrades are tracked separately because they solve different tasks.

The functions come from Gamer Social Club's movement explanation. The choice column turns those functions into a route diagnosis. A pickup visible across a wall can still require going around through another room, so compare the map connection as well as the height.

Slingshot, Climb and your first return route

For Slingshot, continue through Hunter's Cabin to the egg rather than trying to climb directly to the berries. Complete the tutorial, then return to the falling cage and take the upper route. Hunter's food explains the landmarks and the hand-in to Mother Bird. You can complete that objective before Climb.

For Climb, defeat The Swarm in The Bog and continue right. The useful follow-up is the return route into Night Garden: the new climbing action lets you reach Tent Travel. Fast travel gives the route and the map operation once the pickup is collected.

Collecting Climb and collecting Tent Travel are separate steps. If you can climb but cannot teleport, check whether you took the second pickup. If travel works to one tent but not another, make sure you personally visited the destination rather than only revealing it on a map.

Hover and Lookout Tower flight upgrades

Hover is in Desiccated Castle, after the Queen's stealth sequence. Follow the onward passage after Looter is taken and finish the new ability tutorial. The illustrated castle route confirms that sequence and uses Hover on the later connection to The Docks.

Lookout Tower's flight-time pickups extend the time available for airborne movement. They are different from the Golden Feathers used for story progression. If you are counting four Golden Feathers after visiting the tower and village, use where to go after Watchtower to compare unfinished objectives rather than adding the tower's flight upgrades to that total.

When a gap is your problem, test Hover immediately after a regular jump and watch where the landing falls short. A longer airborne window helps distance; it does not replace Climb on a wall or the wind-specific action in a wind tunnel.

Underwater access and later climbing tools

For the route below The Docks, the Water Vessel follows the Creature from the Deep boss. It provides the underwater transport used in The Deep. The Torpedo upgrade is another transport step, rather than a replacement for Hover or Climb. The release run's chapter list places the water route before The Colony and Endless Climb.

Once you have Endless Climb, revisit long walls that previously exhausted your climbing time. Wall Sling solves a different movement problem: placing the matchstick while attached to the wall creates a useful launch point. A difficult angled or interrupted climb may call for that placement instead of simply remaining on the wall longer.

Use one blocked route as a test after every new unlock. Mark the room, return with the ability, and check whether it changes the specific obstacle. This builds a useful backtracking list without revealing every collectible at once.
