Where to Go After Watchtower in Well Dweller
Find where to go in Well Dweller after Watchtower and Autumn Village: reach The Docks with Hover, check the water route, and choose your next feather objective.
On this page+
If you finished Lookout Tower and Autumn Village in Well Dweller but have not cleared The Docks, go east to The Docks. You need Hover for the documented connection from Gravenvalley. If The Docks is already complete, continue through its Water Vessel route into The Deep or check your unfinished Golden Feather objectives. Your next destination depends on what you completed, not only your feather count.
This answers the Steam player's four-feather question without assuming everyone follows the same middle-game order. “Watchtower” refers here to Lookout Tower. The Docks recommendation is supported by the community reply and the illustrated release route, while the branches below help if you already explored that area.
Choose the branch that matches your save
Scroll sideways to compare all columns.
| Your current progress | Next useful objective | Check before leaving |
|---|---|---|
| Tower and village complete, The Docks still unexplored | Reach The Docks and speak to Barge | You have Hover and a known tent for the return route. |
| The Docks explored, Creature from the Deep unfinished | Finish the pearl-door and boss objective | You collected the required Door Pearls rather than only map pickups. |
| Creature from the Deep defeated, Water Vessel missing | Continue the boss's onward route | Collect the transport unlock before treating the water route as finished. |
| Water Vessel acquired, The Deep incomplete | Explore The Deep and its progression | Look for transport-related access instead of attempting ordinary jumps underwater. |
| The Docks and The Deep already complete | Compare remaining feather quests and ability routes | Check completed encounters and hand-ins, not only visited areas. |
Start with the first unfinished milestone in your row. A revealed area on the map does not prove its main encounter is complete. Likewise, owning an ability proves the pickup, but does not identify which optional feather quests you have finished elsewhere.
Reach The Docks from Gravenvalley
The Desiccated Castle walkthrough reaches The Docks after Hover. Its route returns to the Gravenvalley tent, uses Hover to reach the left wall at the onward connection, then climbs into the room above. An environmental switch opens the blockade before the route continues up and right into The Docks.
After entering, continue right across the spike section to the first tent. Activate that save point before expanding your search. This gives you a recognizable arrival landmark and a convenient return destination once you use Tent Travel.
If the gap stops you, check that you finished the Hover tutorial in Desiccated Castle. If you can reach the wall but cannot rise, check Climb and the room's upper connection. If a blockade is the remaining problem, look for the switch rather than repeatedly trying to squeeze through the closed passage.
Use the map guide to compare area boundaries and tent positions when your room names differ. The essential sequence is the connection, wall, upper room and switch; map colors are secondary cues, and you should not choose a route solely because a screenshot uses the same shade as your current room.
What to do on your first visit to The Docks
Meet Barge to start the missing-crew objective. The Docks walkthrough connects that visit to the three Door Pearls, the sealed door and Creature from the Deep. Keep the pearl objective separate from a general collection sweep so you can tell which pickups actually open progress.
Check the objective item count after each pearl. If a door still refuses to open, compare that count before assuming the map is missing an exit. If you found an unrelated trinket or workshop material, it may be useful equipment progress while leaving the pearl requirement unchanged.
After the boss, continue to the Water Vessel unlock. The chaptered release run records the boss and transport pickup as separate moments. Leaving immediately after an achievement popup can therefore make the next route look inaccessible even though the necessary pickup is nearby.
Already visited The Docks? Check the water route
If your save already has Water Vessel, your next useful branch may be The Deep. Check the entrances and the transport actions shown in your current game. The run's next chapter follows underwater exploration, a Torpedo upgrade, The Colony and then Endless Climb.
Those milestones are useful because they distinguish a transport gate from a climbing gate. A room below The Docks may need the water vehicle, while a long wall encountered later may need Endless Climb. The abilities reference maps each movement problem to the relevant unlock and separates Water Vessel from the eight core traversal skills.
If both water milestones and the later climbing upgrade are complete, stop repeating the eastern route simply because a community answer said “The Docks.” That answer suits an unfinished Docks save. Use your completed objectives to choose a different branch.
Four Golden Feathers: check tasks, not a universal order
Lookout Tower's flight-time upgrades and story Golden Feathers are different pickups. Count Golden Feathers from your inventory rather than adding every feather-shaped object you found. For the same reason, visiting Autumn Village is different from finishing its associated progression and taking the reward.
Compare your completed story goals in Achievements with the quests you remember. The boss overview identifies the major encounters and their areas. It helps you find a missing objective without demanding that your run match another player's boss order.
If you want a direct in-game clue, use the tent's paid map-hint option described in the Steam thread. Read the offered hint before buying it and use the marker to identify the remaining objective. This is especially useful when several middle-game areas are already open and a generic compass direction is no longer enough.
If an objective is complete but its reward is missing
Record the completed encounter or hand-in, the achievement state and the item you expected. A player who missed a pickup needs a different answer from someone who cannot enter the room. For missing spirit-return trinkets, update and load the save first: the October 2 patch should add them automatically. See known bugs for that case.
Reviewed October 2, 2026 from the Steam question, the two illustrated release routes and Gabe and the Goat's chaptered run. The branching table is original editorial guidance based on those milestones. It is designed to select the next unfinished task rather than present one mandatory order for every save.
