Well Dweller Walkthrough and Progression Routes
Follow this Well Dweller walkthrough through early ability unlocks, The Drains, The Docks and seven Golden Feather objectives to reach the Queen's Castle.
On this page+
To progress through Well Dweller, get Slingshot in Hunter's Cabin, Climb after The Swarm, Wind Ride in The Drains and Hover after the Desiccated Castle stealth sequence. Then choose unfinished objectives for the seven Golden Feathers. All seven let you return to the base of Queen's Castle in The Bog. The route below tells you the next milestone from your current ability or objective.
The middle regions support different orders. Use the milestones to select an accessible branch; the order of bosses in a recording is one successful route, rather than a requirement for every save.
Opening route: food, Climb and Tent Travel
Collect the Matchstick and Oil Vial in Night Garden, defeat Groundskeeper, and continue to Looter in Hunter's Cabin for the Flaming Vessel tutorial. The cabin's moving cages and bubbles lead to the Slingshot egg.
Finish its tutorial, return to the falling cage, bounce to the upper route and take the right exit to the Hunter's food. Return the berries to Mother Bird in The Well. Hunter's food gives the detailed recovery route.
After the Hunter escape, continue through The Bog to The Swarm. Take Climb on the path right of the defeated boss. Climb back toward Night Garden and collect Tent Travel. You can then return to visited tents through the map; fast travel shows that return route.
The Drains: repair the elevator and free the frogs
Get Wind Ride, then search above the gold-key gate, southwest below The Bog, and up the candle shaft above the elevator tent. The three elevator parts guide gives each approach, a route diagram and a 2/3 missing-part checklist. Return to the central tent and repair the adjacent lift once you have all three.
The descent starts Lady of the Drains. Use the attack response table if the summoned enemy or ground wave stops you. After the lift reaches the bottom, go right to the frogs, hit the overhead switch with Slingshot and exit right into Midnight Drench. Pick up the Golden Feather on that onward path before teleporting away.
Continue through the opened onward route into Midnight Drench and the connections toward Gravenvalley and Desiccated Castle. Wind Ride solves wind passages; it does not provide the midair hovering needed for later gaps.
Gravenvalley and Desiccated Castle: reach Hover
In Gravenvalley, interrupt the burning scene, defeat Lida the Terrible and complete Egbert's rescue. Keep the castle-opening objectives in view: access to Desiccated Castle uses the opened route connections, rather than the seven-feather requirement of the final Queen's Castle.
In Desiccated Castle, complete the Queen's stealth sequence and follow the onward route after Looter is taken. Collect Hover and finish its tutorial. The two castle names identify different stages: Desiccated Castle is the midgame stealth route; Queen's Castle is the later seven-feather destination.
If you finished the village and Lookout Tower but lost your next objective, after Watchtower checks your Docks and Deep milestones. Use your actual unlocked abilities to pick the next branch.
The Docks, The Deep and Dollmaker's House
Scroll sideways to compare all columns.
| Your current state | Next objective | Result to check |
|---|---|---|
| You have Hover, but The Docks is unfinished | Follow the eastern Gravenvalley connection into The Docks | Reach the dock objective and its tent. |
| The Docks gate remains closed | Collect the three Door Pearls | The Creature from the Deep route opens. |
| Creature from the Deep is defeated | Finish the rescued crew member's campfire conversation with Barge | Water Vessel becomes available. |
| Fragile walls block the underwater route | Collect Torpedo in the western Deep, then break those walls | Open the western switches. |
| The lower Deep gate is still closed | Use the second Docks tent's Water Vessel to reach the eastern switch | Descend and enter the giant skull toward The Colony. |
| You reached The Colony | Complete the fight and rescued-siblings sequence | Continue to Endless Climb. |
| Tall walls are now accessible | Progress through Dollmaker's House to Dollmaker's Mirror | Rescue Magda and collect Wall Sling. |
After Barge's conversation, go left from his office near the first Docks tent to the western Water Vessel. Explore that branch for Torpedo, then return to the second Docks tent and go left and down for the eastern vessel. The two entrances let you reach both sides of the lower gate.
Water Vessel is underwater transport. Endless Climb solves sustained wall climbs, and Wall Sling lets you establish a matchstick launch while climbing. Match the obstacle to the new action in Abilities, then revisit branches that were previously beyond reach.
Seven Golden Feathers: finish the missing objective
Stuck at 6/7 Golden Feathers? If a fight or collection quest is already finished, check its reward step first: Shrine's left exit, the frog switch after Lady, Whisper's four-part delivery and Squinton's party after Gravedigger. At 7/7, return to Queen's Castle in The Bog.

| Objective | Area | What to finish |
|---|---|---|
| Lady of the Drains and the frogs | The Drains → Midnight Drench | After the fight, use the switch above the frogs and take the right exit to the feather. |
| Forest King | Autumn Forest | Complete the orb-and-pillar progression and feast encounter. |
| Starsinger | Lookout Tower | Finish the tower encounter and take the reward. |
| Repair Looter | Four Golden Gate routes → Whisper in The Docks | Return all four body parts to Whisper; collect the reconstruction reward. |
| Gravedigger | Burial Vault | Finish the escort and fight, then attend Squinton's party for the reward. |
| Shrine of the Seven Sons | Midnight Drench | Defeat the shrine, then leave the boss room to the left for the feather. |
| Innkeeper escape | Webdrench Inn → Midnight Drench | Finish the final long slide and collect the exit reward. |
Missing Looter's feather: check the parts and the hand-in
With Endless Climb, reach the floor above the first Docks tent and enter the old boot near the next tent. Talk to Whisper for the Golden Key. Use the gold-padlock markers to revisit the four gates:
Scroll sideways to compare all columns.
| Body part | Region | Original route video |
|---|---|---|
| Legs | Gravenvalley | 2:13 approach |
| Arms | Desiccated Castle | 3:09 approach |
| Torso | The Drains | 4:20 approach |
| Head | The Bog | 5:00 approach |
After 4/4, return to Whisper in the boot to complete the reconstruction and receive the feather; the hand-in begins at 6:16. Finding the parts without returning them leaves that objective unfinished.
At six feathers: revisit reward exits first
Choose the check matching your completed objective:
- Shrine defeated: return to its boss room in Midnight Drench and take the left exit to the feather. Use the Shrine attack table if the fight itself is unfinished.
- Lady defeated: at the bottom of the repaired elevator, go right to the frogs, shoot the overhead switch and take the right exit. The feather is on the route into Midnight Drench.
- Looter parts at 4/4: return to Whisper's boot in The Docks, complete the reconstruction and collect the reward. The 6:16 delivery chapter shows the step after the four pickups.
- Gravedigger defeated: continue the Burial Vault quest to Squinton's party and finish the reward conversation. Count the feather after the party rather than treating the boss win as the pickup.
If none of those four fits your unfinished quest, compare Forest King's feast, Starsinger and the Innkeeper escape with the seven-objective table. Check the feather total after the matching reward before starting another full circuit.
For the Innkeeper, the chase guide matches bells, launch direction and the final slide to the route. For the other encounters, Bosses identifies their regions. Count the reward you collected, rather than inferring it from a boss or quest name.
The three flight-time feathers in Lookout Tower are not Golden Feathers. If you have four Golden Feathers, use the seven-objective table to identify unfinished work; the number alone does not determine a unique next area.
Queen's Castle and the collection return
Show final-castle and post-Queen milestones
With seven Golden Feathers, return to the castle base in The Bog. Inside, follow the route through the sibling-search objective, Silver Doll and the Queen encounter.
The recorded post-Queen route then collects Queen's Coin, Soar and Mysterious Markings before the five Spirit Fragments. The markings add locations while leaving their entrances to find. Soar provides the vertical movement for the return routes.
If a collection gate stops you, check its own condition: 32 trinkets, 80 slots or completed pages. Use the 100% checklist for those counters and all 20 spirit locations for the Night Garden hand-in. These are separate from the seven feathers that opened the castle.
Sources and review date
The 6/7 decision sequence and original reward-step diagram were organized October 19, 2026 using the feather hand-in sources reviewed below. This presentation update does not change the original route verification dates.
Elevator approaches and feather hand-ins reviewed October 14, 2026 against the illustrated Drains route, the original Looter quest and chaptered video, the Shrine fight and left exit and Gamer Guides' seven reward markers. The Looter chapter links follow the original author's timestamps; the six-feather check order is our editorial organization.
Checked October 10, 2026 against Gabe and the Goat's ten release-run chapters, the illustrated opening route, the Hover and castle route, The Docks and Deep route and PC collection-gate records.
This walkthrough organizes the recorded route into ability and objective decisions, with focused guides for the detailed obstacles. The feather table consolidates quest rewards without prescribing a single midgame order. We have not claimed an original playthrough.
